Location: Ft. Lauderdale, FL

I happened to be in Ft Lauderdale as a result of my ‘Aunt Betty’ passing away. Though we weren’t terribly close, I always enjoyed her presence as she was just fun to be around. A wonderful personality for an ‘Aunt’. One of my earlier childhood memories involves her and her future husband-to-be, ‘Uncle Stan’. While they were dating, Stan owned a Triumph TR-3 (this is 1960’ish, possibly a little earlier). One weekend, there was a family gathering I believe occurred at my father’s parents place. And my sister & I got a ride in the ‘back seat’ (or should I say the back ‘shelf’) of the TR-3 with Betty & Stan on a pleasant sunny afternoon. It was my first excursion in a ragtop, and a ‘cool’ car to boot. I can still sense the sun beating down on us and the sun on my head as we cruised around the NJ countryside.

On this morning, I wandered over to the Ft Lauderdale Pk Beach with gear in hand hoping to catch a nice seaside sunrise. And managed to catch a couple of ‘ok’ shots. But it wasn’t until the sun was a fair amount above the horizon when I turned to look south towards Miami and spotted this cloud formation approaching land. It made for a nice soft, early am color shot, but I find this B&W version even more intriguing.
