JOHNSONS SHUT-INS STATE PARK 007
Location: Johnsons Shut-Ins State Park
It had been an unusually cold winter in SE Missouri this year. And though it had warmed a little by early March, I still anticipated finding some ice clinging to at least the edges of the rocks in the East Fork of the Black River that runs through the park. Much to my surprise, there wasn’t any ice to be found except in a few ‘potholes’ in the granite.
So, I changed gears and began seeking out intimate views of the individual cascades that make up the Shut-Ins. Had this been early August instead of early March, I’d have gladly waded out into the water to seek out interesting compositions. But the water was just too cold for that this trip ( I know….’Bwawk, bwawk, b-w-a-c-k-!!! ).
Though I did shoot a few intimate compositions of various cascades, this more macro view of the area wound up being my favorite shot of the day. The water just seems to be coming from, and going to, everywhere!
