ROUND BALD 118
Location: Carvers Gap, TN
Yet another from the Tennessee trip with fellow Google +’ers Travis Rhoads , Jerry Denham , & Ron Williams .
My selected location to shoot sunset this evening was a view that looked roughly SSW and was in a bit of a gap between Round Bald & Jane Bald. So, though sunset had not officially occurred when I left it, the mountains were casting long enough and deep enough shadows that I felt like I’d got the best light I was going to get from that vantage point.
As I crested the ridge on Round Bald, I was unexpectedly greeted with this delightfully colorful scene. Though I’m generally not given to shooting ‘silhouette’ type sunsets, the simplicity of letting the foreground go dark just seemed the appropriate take on this one. Of course, not having planned this shot in advance, there was also a bit of scrambling to get set up and find a decent composition before the light faded away.
Somewhat unique for me as well….this one is as close to ‘straight out of the camera’ as I’m likely to process. Other than some contrast adjustment, this is SOOC.
