This page will be periodically updated as I find new and interesting quotes specific to photography and/or 'creativity' in general. Individual entries will include a 'Date Added' note.
Nothing Exists Solely As Its Literal Self
"One should not only photograph things for what they are but for what else they are." - Minor White
da Vinci on Simplicity
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." -- Leonardo da Vinci
I need to have this one tattoo'd on the inside of my eyelids. :
Be Willing to Learn.....Always
Here's one to which I certainly hope I can adhere. IMO, there's nothing more detrimental to the creative process than reaching a point we think we 'know' everything that needs to be known about our art. We truly need to be open to new ideas/approaches 'forever'.
“Once the amateur’s naive approach and willingness to learn fades away, the creative spirit of good photography dies with it. Every professional should remain always in his heart an amateur.” — Alfred Eisenstaedt
Ansel Adams on Sharp Images
I just love this one.....
“There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.” — Ansel Adams
Brought to you by......The King of Fuzzy Concepts. :)
Scott Adams On Creativity
Scott Adams, the creator of the Dilbert comic strip, is credited with this one. I find it intriguing as either sentence in the entire quote could stand on it’s own.
“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” — Scott Adams
