Location: Outer Banks, NC, USA Date/Time Captured: 04/04/2016 @ 04:48 Had to get up e-a-r-l-y on this morning to make the roughly hour drive down to Friso Pier for some astro and Milky Way shooting. It was just late enough for this one that the Milky Way had disappeared, but as it was just the beginning of blue hour, there were still some stars present, the moon was setting just over the pier's shed, and the very earliest colors of sunrise had appeared.

Location: County Kerry, Ireland Date/Time Captured: 10/15/2017 @ 09:52 This location probably embodies 'Ireland' for me...at least for the elements included I found most intriguing as the trip went on. The long 'cul de sac' like peninsula, the offshore islands, the distant land mass barely visible in the haze and peeking out between more nearby land formations, the color of the sea, the color of the grass(es) that seemed to be just about everywhere, the (almost) treless hills, and the tan/brown fields, and the frequent cloud cover. For my photographic interests, that pretty much wraps Ireland up in a bow. I don't do panos very often, but this location seemed like a natural opportunity to do so. My first long exposure pano as well.

Though we arrived here a half hr or so prior to sunrise, we didn't expect to experience much sunrise color with the cloud cover that existed. And while that turned out to be the case, it's surprising the variety of 'keepers' I was fortunate to capture this am.

Location: Edisto Island, SC, USA Date/Time Captured: 08/10/2016 @ 06:31 A fun sunrise session as things didn't look all that promising for sunrise color upon my arrival. Clouds were fairly thick...though not totally overcast. Even as I found my way out to the beach and began shooting things were a little blah. I'd all but given up on color shots and had been concentrating on long exposure black & white images....looking directly opposite of the sun's direction. And after starting a 4 minute exposure, I turned around, looked back in the sun's direction.....and Holy Cimoli, sunrise color had put on it's Sunday-Go-To-Meeting clothes and was strutting it's stuff. It turned out to be a wonderful color event that lasted approx 15-20 minutes. Turned out to be a very productive session for both color and long exposure b*w images!

And the forecast was suggesting cloud cover was only likely to increase as the day went on. With it sounding like sunset was not likely to be a color event that evening, I decided to head down to the pier to try my hand at some long exposure captures.

Folly Beach 0018, 06/08/2016

Location: Folly Beach, SC, USA Date/Time Captured: 08/07/2016 I had spotted this sort of malformed S curve the previous morning. But by the time I did, the 'good light' was gone for the day. So, I made plans right then to come back again on this day specifically to capture this image. Fortunately, the clouds were moving along just spiffy and it all combined for somewhat of an abstract long exposure. Though a fan of pretty much any 'abstract' opportunities, I'm always most intrigued when Mother Nature provides these 'live and in living color' opportunities.
